Play Therapy

Some specific therapeutic modalities that I have unique training in include:

  • Experiential and Child-Centered Play Therapy

While adults express their emotional stresses through their words, children express themselves through their play and use the toys as their words. The  main purpose of play therapy is to provide an opportunity for the child to use imaginary play and toys to resolve emotional problems, which fosters balance and a sense of wellbeing for the child.

  • Filial Play Therapy

Filial therapy is a special kind of play therapy suitable for children between the ages of 3 and 12 years old. Parents/caregivers are directly involved as the main change agents, learning therapeutic, child-centered skills aimed at strengthening the parent-child relationship and reducing emotional and behavioral difficulties the child may be experiencing.

  • Sand Tray Therapy

Sand tray therapy is a dynamic and expressive form of psychotherapy that allows clients to express their inner worlds through symbols and metaphors. This technique of choosing, arranging and processing minatures in a sand tray allows for opportunities of healing through a sensory experience that taps into unconcious thoughts that traditional “talk therapies” are unable to access.
